Diane joined the School of Education at Leicester in 2001. She is currently the Programme Leader for our campus-based MA Applied Linguistics and TESOL and MA TESOL programmes.

Diane originally specialised in English literature, doing her PhD on modern poetry. She taught English at an independent school before going on to teach English in Germany and later worked as an assistant director of studies at a private language school in Wales. She was a lecturer at the University of Exeter before joining the Applied linguistics/TESOL team here at Leicester.

Diane has acted as an external examiner and validator for other universities on various occasions.

Research

Teaching

Diane teaches mainly on the campus-based MA Applied Linguistics and TESOL programme. She is the module convenor for the following modules of this programme:

  • ED7004 Language, Discourse and Society 
  • ED7014 Literature in Language Education
  • ED7020 Intercultural Communication

Diane also tutors students on the Distance Learning programme and regularly contributes to specialist study schools for EdD and PhD students. She also lectures and supervises for the MA Learning and Teaching
