Foundation Degree in Educational Studies
The Foundation Degree in Educational Studies is an established and successful programme attracting Teaching Assistants, and others working in schools, who wish to further their studies whilst continuing to work. Please note this course will not be recruiting new students for entry in 2012.
Graduates of the Foundation Degree can apply to progress onto the BA (Hons) in Educational Studies to gain the full honours degree. They will then be eligible to apply to a number of routes into Qualified Teachers Status, including PGCE.
Programme Aims
The Foundation Degree will enable you to:
- improve your skills
- explore the possibility of a career path leading towards greater professional recognition
- gain specific knowledge of the National Cirrculum and of other educational topics and subject areas
- have an excellent opportunity to improve your contribution to the learning of young people and others
- progress onto our BA (Hons) in Educational Studies top-up or similiar programmes. This has resulted in many successful students joining teacher-training programmes.
Programme Structure
The programme is offered over three years on a part-time basis and you will study twelve modules within this period. The programme is organised in two levels, each comprising six modules.
