What are the aims of the course?

It is an opportunity to explore your own practice and to examine some of the dilemmas and challenges of using mentoring and coaching techniques in a variety of circumstances. You will explore different models of mentoring and coaching and apply what you find most attractive to your mentoring and coaching activites.

The course is aimed at Primary, Secondary and 16+ teachers

When does the next course start?

The course starts November 2014. This course runs in alternate years and we recommend that, if you are interested in this course, you might consider the 'Developing Leadership in Education' course for Autumn 2013.

What does the course involve?

The course is delivered through a flexible and supportive approach and its delivery includes:

six taught days across the year
self-directed study
A virtual learning Environment (Blackboard)

How is the course assessed?

The course consists of two modules and assessment is in two parts and includes discursive writing in both parts, as well as the collection of a portfolio of evidence and a formal presentation on issues associated with mentoring and coaching.

What is the outcome of the course?

Successful completion of this course gives 60 credits at Masters Level. (Level 7 in the National Qualification Framework). This Postgraduate Certificate course is part of the University of Leicester's part-time MA in Education: Learning and Teaching.
