Understanding and Managing Children with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties
A Postgraduate Certificate course for teachers and other graduates working with Primary, Secondary and FE students, with an optional route for professionals at first degree level.

Overview
We welcome teachers from all settings including youth workers, education welfare officers, learning mentors, teaching assistants and residential social workers to this course.
Course Aims
The course is designed to enable you to find out more about:
- approaches to providing for SEBD in education
- care and other settings
- legislation and guidance relating to SEBD
- aspects of child development and developmental psychology
Teaching Sessions
The course has been developed by SEBDA (the Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties Association) with the University of Leicester, and is taught through a residential weekend then distance learning.
In 2011-2012, the residential weekend will be at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, from 1.00pm on Friday 16 September to 12 noon on Sunday 18 September.
All participants are supported for the rest of the year by tutorials; these are organised regionally with experienced tutors. If you live a long way from the arranged venues, you may be able to have tutorials entirely by email and telephone.
Fees
Fee for 2011-2012 for the Postgraduate Certificate route is £1,040.
There is a £20 discount for current members of SEBDA. Please see the SEBDA website for more information about the non-graduate route.
