Continuing Professional Development for Teachers

These courses are targeted at practicing UK teachers, with Qualified Teacher Status

We are highly committed to Continuing Professional Development here at the School of Education. We offer relevant, enjoyable and challenging CPD courses for teachers covering a wide range of curriculum and specialist subjects.

Our Continuing Professional Development Programmes:

Our Postgraduate Certificates are offered under the umbrella of the MA in Education: Learning and Teaching programme and, together, offer a valuable part-time route to a Masters degree for teachers and other graduate education professionals. All courses connect theory to practice to ensure that you are up-to-date with thinking in the area of the course focus and have the opportunities to apply these ideas to develop your current practice. Assignments are designed as practice-based tasks to support this connection between theory and practice. The tasks provide flexibility to explore areas of personal and professional interest to you.

All courses are led by an expert in the field and you will be provided with a personal tutor to support you through the assignments. You will also have access to a wide range of sources of support from the University of Leicester, including the highly acclaimed University library which specialises as a digital library to allow you maximum off-campus access to materials.

Completing 60 credits would allow you to graduate with a  Postgraduate Certificate; completing 120 credits would allow you to graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma and completing 180 credits would allow you to graduate with the highly valued MA in Education: Learning and Teaching.

You will have the opportunity to share ideas with colleagues from different local authorities, to use excellent library and computer facilities and support from experienced tutors in developing Masters level enquiry skills and practice-relevant knowledge.
