Entry Requirements

Course Aims

  • Provides a specialist in-depth understanding of core areas of financial economics for students with a quantitative background.
  • Is designed for students who wish to build on the foundation of a Mathematics A-Level, or equivalent.
  • Introduces financial economics techniques, such as risk management methods, derivatives pricing and portfolio management.
  • Provides an opportunity to critically analyse economic events and their impact on financial markets, making extensive use of financial economics and econometrics software and data sources.
  • Gives valuable skills in numeracy, IT, communications and problem solving, as well as key skills in financial economics for further study at graduate level.
  • Offers excellent preparation for specialist quantitatively orientated careers in financial economics, research and forecasting, as well as those in the areas of business management, finance, banking and accountancy.
