Departmental Study Support

If you are struggling with any aspect of your studies there are several ways in which you can access support.

Ask your Module/Tutorial Leader
You can obtain help from your Tutorial or Module Leader during their office hours. For queries relating to a specific module please seek help from the Tutorial or Module Leader first. This includes help with maths queries.

Use WinEcon for Self Guided Maths Help
If it is help with Mathematics that you need then you can use the department's online self-tutorial software WinEcon. WinEcon is a software application available through the Department of Economics. It offers you the chance to undertake guided maths tutorials in your own time.  Instructions for using WinEcon are available here. You can use WinEcon on University computers, unfortunately it is not available to upload to students' personal computers.

One-to-One Appointments
You may wish to make use of the university's Learning Development Team. The Learning Development are located on the 2nd floor of the David Wilson Library. They offer study skills sessions relating to writing essays, avoiding plagiarism, preparing for exams and more. If you are struggling with course work they may be able to help. For maths support you can seek one-to-one maths help from the Learning Development team's maths support service

You can also make an appointment to see the Department's Student Support Manager, Korin Grant. Whilst the Student Support Manager may not be able to answer your queries directly she will be able to help you find support if you are struggling with your course work.
