Leicester Criminologist invited to sit on the Advisory Committee of the Measuring anti-Muslim Attacks Project organised by Faith Matters.
Irene Zempi will provide advice and guidance to the team of Faith Matters who are working on the Measuring Anti-Muslim Attacks (MAMA) project. The Measuring Anti-Muslim Attacks programme is based upon software that has been developed by Faith Matters to capture anti-Muslim attacks in real time in England and it is funded by the goverment. The MAMA programme provides support to individuals who have suffered anti-Muslim attacks in England, as well as those who have been attacked since they have been perceived to be Muslim. This means that the MAMA programme will reach out to and provide services to:
- Muslims in England,
- Sikhs perceived to be Muslims and who have suffered attacks,
- Muslims who have been attacked by other Muslims because they are perceived to be from a minority group within Muslim communities.
