Career Prospects

As well as being fundamental to all life, chemistry contributes to almost every object that we encounter in our daily lives. It is central science and as such offers a vast array of employment opportunities. Many of our graduates seek employment in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, which are the largest employers of scientists in the UK and are among the country’s leading manufacturing exporters.  However, as well as gaining a knowledge about different aspects of chemistry throughout the course of your degree you will have pickup a number of transferable skills, for example, problem solving, data analysis, numeracy skills, computing and time management.  So the combination of chemistry knowledge and transferable skills means that after you graduate your job prospects are extremely good.
