NSS 2017: 97% agree our staff are good at explaining things

Below is the list of courses available for  2017 Entry. Our degrees can be taken as either a three-year BSc degree or a four-year MChem degree. The BSc and MChem programmes share a common first two years (see below for more details). Consequently, it is possible to switch degree courses in either direction during the first two years of the course, although transfer from BSc to MChem will be subject to satisfactory progress at the end of the first and second year of study based on grades achieved. All our courses satisfy Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) rules for accreditation (MChem) or recognition (BSc), a guarantee that you have the breadth and depth of knowledge to be a professional chemist.

MChem Chemistry Degree

For those who have a strong desire to be a professional chemist should apply for one of the four-year MChem degrees on offer. The MChem courses have a strong emphasis on research and professional training in the final two years and provide a much firmer basis than the BSc for a career as a chemist in industry or academia.

Industry: We have placed students in a number of companies over the years but some of the most recent include: GlaxoSmithCline, Astra Zeneca, 3M, Lubrizol, Pfizer, Nisan, BASF, Mondelez and Sygnature Discovery.

Year Abroad: Whilst students routinely study abroad in the USA and Europe, it is also possible to arrange a study year abroad in Canada or China. Allocation of year abroad placements always depends on what destinations/institutions are available in that particular year.
