Non-EU nationals

We welcome applications from international students and recently we have had students studying with us from countries all across the world including China, Egypt, India, Iraq, Korea, Libya, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Vietnam. Together with our European students, who come from countries such as Cyprus. France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain the Department has a rich, diverse and multicultural cohort.

All overseas students will be required to demonstrate their level of proficiency in the English language. There are several ways in which this can be achieved. Please press link for further details.

International Fees

The postgraduate programmes offered by the Department of Chemistry are laboratory based science programmes and the fees are indicated below. The University wishes to encourage full-time students to arrange payment of the full tuition fee in advance of the start of the academic year and therefore offers a £200 discount on the figures given for students that do so.

MSc Taught Courses (1 Year)

MSc Course Fees for overseas students are £12,650 per annum

PhD Research Programmes (3 Years)

Non-EU students are eligible to apply for the PhD programme but must apply for funding through their home country or through the numerous schemes available to support international students in the UK.

International Scholarships of £3,000 are available for academically gifted students accepted onto the Departmental PhD programme and the Department of Chemistry is pleased to offer 10 International Scholarships of up to £3,000 (£1,000 per annum over 3 years) for suitable applicants.

Some students choose to fund the costs of their studies privately: in this case, you are encouraged to make contact with the Department at an early stage.
