The Paediatric Emergency Medicine Leicester Academic Group

PEMLA is the Paediatric Emergency Medicine part of EMAG. Paediatric Emergency Medicine has been a sub-speciality in the UK for 10 years (more information can be found on the College of Emergency Medicine website training pages). However academic PEM is in its infancy and Leicester is leading the UK in creating an academic interest in this area to complement the well established leadership role in PEM training.

 The University of Leicester appointed the first Academic Clincal Fellows in Paediatric Emergency Medicine in 2008 and has been succesful in obtaining the UK's first Doctoral Research fellowship in PEM.

PEMLA is led by Dr Ffion Davies and Dr Damian Roland who have developed the award winning POPS (Paediatrics Observation Priority Score) and publish regularly in peer reviewed journals relevant to Paediatric Emergency Medicine
