IQSCS

IQSCS - the research centre for Quantum Social and Cognitive Science

The research centre for Quantum Social and Cognitive Science (IQSCS) was established in 2014 with the support of the University of Leicester, the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities and the School of Business of the same University.

IQSCS promotes and develops high level research on the identification of quantum structures in non-physical domains, in particular, in socio-economic and cognitive science.

The employment of the mathematical formalism of quantum mechanics outside the microscopic world is a growing research field and it has rapidly attracted the interest of the scientific community and the media. IQSCS, together with the Center Leo Apostel (CLEA) of the Free University of Brussels (VUB) which IQSCS is associated with, have played a pioneering role in this field and are still providing fundamental contributions to it.

IQSCS' main aims and finalities can be summarised as follows:

  • development of a unified quantum-based perspective in which the results of different disciplines can be properly placed together;
  • interdisciplinarity;
  • wide-ranging dissemination of scientific knowledge.

IQSCS employs academics at the tenure, postdoctoral and PhD level to develop high quality research in a broad range of subjects, from the foundations of cognitive and social science, to economic and financial modelling, cognition and decision making, and evolution theory.

IQSCS incorporates the Quantum Decision Theory Group (QDTG).
