Resources for Schools

Leicester has an international reputation for biological sciences based upon the research strengths of genetics, biochemistry, biology and cell physiology and pharmacology. The school also has an outstanding reputation for teaching: in the review of the School by the Quality Assurance Agency, our teaching was rated as 'excellent'. In 2005 the School was awarded status as a Centre of Excellence for Teaching and Learning by HEFCE, and is currently ranked 4th in the UK in the Guardian University Guide (2012).

Talks and Workshops

The school encourages interactions with schools and colleges in the area and offers a range of lectures and workshops. A list of lectures currently offered is given below. To enquire if a presentation can be given at your school please contact the member of staff directly.

Workshops for Sixth Formers

There is limited opportunity for sixth formers to visit the University of Leicester and take part in biological workshops. Currently we are offering sessions on Electron Microscopy, Modern Genetic Techniques (contact Cas Kramer on ck53@le.ac.uk) and Human Physiology (contact Dr Jon Scott on js50@le.ac.uk). These workshops can be tailored to your requirements but are usually of a day or half a day and can include hands-on practical work and lectures.
