Erasmus staff exchange visitor
This week Leicester Sociology is hosting a Visiting Fellow from Istanbul, Deniz Genc, who is here as part of the Erasmus Staff Exchange programme from Bahcesehir University. Her area of study is the nature of borders and bordering and irregular migration, especially concerning Turkey and the European Union.
Diasporas, Multiculturalism and European Identity
Leicester Sociologist Ipek Demir will lead a session on ‘Diasporas, Multiculturalism and European Identity’ at the European Science Foundation funded workshop on ‘The Crisis of European Cosmopolitanism in the Age of Austerity: Multiculturalism and Colonial Legacies’. Doing Interdisciplinary Research: Summer School
Leicester Sociologist Ipek Demir will run a workshop on ‘Doing Interdisciplinary Research: A Type of Creolisation?’ at the Social Science Research Council International Summer School on ‘Postcolonial Identities and Decolonial Struggles: Creolisation and Coloured Cosmopolitanism’. The event is open to doctoral students based at universities within the US and first-year doctoral students based at universities within the United Kingdom. The dates of the summer school are 28 May to 2 June 2013.
