Undergraduate Courses

Biochemistry at Leicester is fortunate in being closely integrated with related disciplines. The Department is a member of the School of Biological Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine and Biological Sciences. There are, in addition, close working relationships in both teaching and research with the Department of Chemistry and with the MRC Toxicology Unit.

Biochemistry can be studied within the BSc in Biological Sciences degree and students can indicate their particular specialisation by graduating with a BSc in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry). In addition the Departmental is instrumental in running the BSc in Medical Biochemistry, which includes specific modules on biochemical aspects of disease.

In addition to the courses coordinated by the Department, Biochemistry staff also contribute to the teaching of the Medicine, Medical Genetics, Medical Physiology and Medical Microbiology degrees.
