• 1969-1973: University of Minnesota, Department of Pharmacology, Minneapolis, U.S.A.  PhD 1973.
• 1974 – 1980: Lecturer in Biochemical Pharmacology, University of Surrey.
• 1981 – 1984: Senior Lecturer and Head of Toxicology Unit,
  The School of Pharmacy, University of London.
• 1984 – 1991:  Reader in Toxicology and Head of Toxicology Unit, The School of Pharmacy, University of London.
• 1991 - Present: MRC Toxicology Unit. Group Leader,  Acting or Deputy Director at Different Times.
• 2011 - Present: Professor of Cancer Biochemistry
  

Research Interests

• Understanding basic mechanisms of apoptosis and then translating these findings to different disease states in particular to certain forms of malignancy, primarily Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL)
• Mechanisms of Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) Stress
