PhD by Research
The Department offers excellent facilities for post-graduate research leading to a PhD. Details of the broad range of the research within the department can be accessed from the Research page. Informal enquiries are welcome at any time - Please contact the individual supervisor.
The Department receives studentships from Research Councils and other funding bodies and these will be advertised when available (See also FindaPhD) These studentships are available to UK students and EU students who have been resident in the UK for more than 3 years. Students with their own source of funding may apply to any supervisor at any time from the list of available projects.
The University of Leicester has a number of research scholarships, as well as a limited number of open scholarships for international students.

Project Description: Ser/Thr protein kinases of Burkholderia pseudomallei
APPLICATIONS
Applicants must hold, or expect to obtain, a First or Upper Second Class Honours degree in a relevant subject from a UK University, or the equivalent. Applicants whose first language is not English must have achieved an IELTS score of 6.5 minimum or equivalent, or hold a degree wholly taught in English.
A seperate application must be submitted for each studentship and must clearly indicate which studentship is the subject of the application, specifying the unique Studentship Ref number, Project Title, Supervisor and Host Department
In addition to copies of academic certificates and course transcripts, each application must be accompanied by:
(i) a covering letter explaining the reasons for applying for the particular project/studentship
(ii) a detailed Curriculum Vitae of the applicant
(iii) two confidential references from people who can comment on the applicant's academic ability, each in a sealed and signed envelope
