OTTER Project Symposium

A Free Online, Open Space, OER Symposium[1]

5 July, 2010 (10am to 4pm BST)

You are invited to virtually attend an Open Educational Resources (OER) symposium on 5 July 2010 with the Beyond Distance Research Alliance (BDRA) from the University of Leicester. The event will be facilitated by members of the OTTER team[2].

The symposium will be entirely online and will be run as an “open space” workshop. Following open space philosophy, participants will be in charge of everything and will take responsibility for agenda/topic setting and leadership. (You can read more about open space methodology at www.openspaceworld.com/brief_history.htm. We will be adapting this methodology for the online environment)

Do you have something to share? This is your opportunity to set the agenda! Which aspects of OERs do you feel passionate about? Which aspects would you like to put proposals to the OER community in? What OER achievements would you like to boast about? How do you see the global OER community collaborating in the future for the benefit of learners and educators around the world? If you are passionate about a particular topic or theme related to OERs, please also sign up to lead a creative conversation on that topic! It won’t happen if you don’t make it happen!

This workshop is FREE. Thanks to the JISC & HEA for sponsorship.

How the workshop will be run

  1. Complete Registration Form below.
  2. Upon completion you will be sent a URL to a Google Sheet where you can propose a creative conversation (this is optional!). This link will be open until 20th June. Please note that if you add a topic next to your name, YOU are responsible for leading that conversation.
  3. From 14-28 June, we will invite all participants to indicate their interest in the topics that have been proposed. Based on the amount of interest shown for each topic, we will arrange the conference schedule.

The final deadline for offering to lead a creative conversation is 20 June 2010.

The final deadline for registration as a participant is 25 June 2010.

We shall be using Wimba Classroom for this symposium. You will receive information about how to join the sessions nearer the time.
