I've been working hard on my first assignment - 1500 words on my influences as a writer.
I've found this much harder than I expected, because it's some time since I wrote in an academic way. And it's surprisingly difficult to articulate something that I sort of took for granted. Which authors do I really admire - that's not difficult - the reasons why? - that's MUCH more difficult to figure out.
Because I enjoy their writing?
Because I think they write well?
