As we approach the end of Year 1 of the ADELIE Pathfinder project, the Adelie team would like to invite you to attend a seminar by Prof Betty Collis on September 10th entitled: “Wikis: Flavour of the month or the tool that can change learning?"

The seminar will be held in the Gartree & Rutland seminar room, Charles Wilson Building, University of Leicester, on 10 September from 11.30 to 1.30. Lunch will be provided.

If you would like to attend please confirm by emailing beyond.distance@le.ac.uk.  A map of the main campus is available at http://www.le.ac.uk/portals/maps/mcampus.html.

Abstract

Of all the Web 2.0 tools, Wiki software and the Wikipedia available on the World Wide Web seem to have the most chance of getting embedded in instructional practice. They are already making inroads in corporate learning, faster than other technologies have done. What is particularly interesting is that they are being used to link both formal and informal learning. In this presentation, we will look at the theory and practice of the use of Wiki tools and make some predictions about their impact in higher education as well as on-going professional development.
