Course Overview

Ever wondered how 3D worlds can be used in education? This workshop highlights the educational benefits of MUVEs (multi-user virtual environment) such as Second Life and OpenSim, and shows some of the ways they are being used today.

What can I expect to cover?

In this session, participants will create an avatar before being taken into the 3D environment of Second Life to learn some basic movement, camera and building controls.

What will I get out of this course?

An appreciation of the immersive qualitites of Second Life as an addition to the teacher's repertoire.
