POSTGRADUATE AWARDS COMPETITION FOR 2012/13
The School of Archaeology and Ancient History is pleased to announce a variety of scholarships and bursaries on offer for postgraduate research and taught programmes commencing from October 2012:
Taught Postgraduate Bursary Competition
The School has a total of 7 fee bursaries of £1000 for the 2012-13 academic year. These are available to students seeking to carry out full-time campus-based study on any of the following PGT programmes:

Archaeology (with pathways in Prehistory, Bioarchaeology and Medieval Archaeology)

Archaeology of the Roman World
-
Historical Archaeology
-
Classical Mediterranean
All applications (including those that have already been submitted) will automatically be considered for bursary awards which will be judged on the basis of the quality of the application. The final deadline for applications to be considered for an award is Saturday 31st March 2012 – all successful applicants will be notified by the end of April 2012.
Research Postgraduate PhD Scholarships Competition
For the academic year 2012/13, we are pleased to announce an open competition for:

ONE fully funded AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council) PhD award for three years. High quality applicants are formally asked to apply with a letter and an approved programme of (campus-based) research confirmed with a relevant supervisor within the School. While the award is available for topics relating to any of the School’s research strengths, the fields of Bioarchaeology and Ancient History may be favoured.

ONE fully funded Wellcome Trust Studentship PhD for three years to contribute to the 'Criminal Corpses' project. For further details click here.

ONE International PhD Studentship award of £6000 for three years full-time (campus-based) or £3000 per annum part-time by distance learning (international applicants). The award is available for topics relating to any of the School’s research strengths. High quality applicants are formally asked to apply with a letter and an approved programme of research confirmed with a relevant supervisor within the School.

THREE individual bursaries of up to £2000 per year available to support campus-based Home/EU or international doctoral research students. The award is available for topics relating to any of the School’s research strengths. High quality applicants are formally asked to apply with a letter and an approved programme of research confirmed with a relevant supervisor within the School.
For PhD applicants, please first visit our pages related to PhD study and applications and to the pre-application stage, with details on how to prepare a proposal for discussion with relevant School staff. This must be agreed upon before full application is made to the University.
The deadline for the full formal application is 31st March 2012.
