Tony graduated in Botany at University College of North Wales at Bangor in 1970. He has worked on archaeological sites in Britain, the Netherlands, Norway and Sarawak. He joined the University of Leicester in a temporary capacity in 1982 as a technician engaged in setting up a new Environmental Laboratory in the then Department of Archaeology, and then stayed on doing free-lance report work on excavated seeds and animal bones.

Since 1990 he has been working as a full-time technician with particular responsibility for environmental archaeological laboratories and collections. He is also a part-time tutor for the University's Department of Lifelong Learning, teaching Environmental Archaeology within the University's Certificate in Archaeology programme.

Research
