Marta studied ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Barcelona and obtained her Masters degree in 1998. Marta completed her European PhD in Ancient History the year 2004 (Barcelona). Previous to joining Leicester, she was lecturer at the Institut für Geschichte (Ancient History Section) of the University of Dresden (2006-2008). She has also held post-graduate and post-doc research fellowships and positions in Heidelberg, Seminar für Alte Geschichte: 1998-2000; 2003; 2005, Epigraphische Datenbank Heidelberg: 2005-2006; Ladenburg, Landesdenkmalamt Baden-Württemberg, 2001 and Paris: École des hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, 2002.
