Fellowship support scheme

The College of Science and Engineering is seeking to attract outstanding researchers in all disciplines from the UK or internationally to join us as Independent Research Fellows.

We offer a high quality research environment and support for you in any fellowship application process. Researchers within the College have international reputations and collaborations with researchers throughout the world, making it an exciting environment for both research and teaching. As an institution, we have a track record of converting fellowships into full tenured academic positions.

We welcome applications from exceptional candidates with a track record of high impact research. To be considered, please send your CV and a brief outline of a research proposal, including how it might fit in with existing research in the College, to Dr. Trudie Allen, Research Support Office, University of Leicester, Leicester LE1 7RH. Please also include names of potential sponsors from within the College and funding agencies to which you are considering applying.

Short listed applicants will be invited discuss their proposal and their needs with academic staff. Time will be made available to visit the research facilities and to meet with the Research Support Office to discuss the process for a Fellowship Application. Existing fellowship holders wishing to be based at Leicester are also welcome to apply.

Applicants will also be eligible for our Fellowship Support Scheme, which provides flexible funding from the University for a bursary to cover research-based costs such as equipment, consumables or travel.

All candidates must have completed a PhD within the last 10 years. Candidates may hold existing fellowships, or may wish to apply for further independent support. We can provide guidance and mentoring for selected candidates in developing your research career.

The deadline for applications is 9 March 2012.

Informal enquiries can be made through Professor Raven: +44 (0)116 229 7047; emma.raven@le.ac.uk
