Postgraduate Study
We offer extensive opportunities for research courses at both Masters and Doctoral level, affording students the chance to work closely with scientists of stature such as Sir Alec Jeffreys and Professor Nilesh Samani. We also offer taught MSc programmes, including a suite of lab-based Masters degrees and a wide range of non-lab courses.
The emphasis is very much on vocational and professional development, with courses run by staff who have extensive experience in professional practice as well as academic life. These courses are recognised externally for their quality, a point that’s illustrated by the project funding we’ve received from MRC and the Wellcome Trust, CRUK and BBSRC - to name but a few.
Research Degrees
Research postgraduates are integrated into dynamic research groups housed in modern well-equipped facilities. They have access to wide-ranging lecture and seminar programmes, plus a College programme of training in transferable and generic skills designed to aid their professional development as independent scientists.
Several studentships from the UK Research Councils, various charitable organisations and from the College itself are available each year. Opportunities for research study leading to the degrees of PhD, MD, MPhil, MRes are available.

Taught Postgraduate Courses
Masters degree courses provide integrated programmes of taught elements followed by a research project carried out under the supervision of academic staff. Projects range from laboratory-based research, sometimes abroad or in industry, to work-related professional development for clinicians and psychologists.
Several courses offer flexible study routes via part-time and distance learning options and all significantly enhance the career prospects of students. Taught postgraduate courses leading to Diploma and Master's qualifications are available.
