Postgraduate courses

PhD and Masters students in the College are a mix of full- and part-time students from the UK, the rest of Europe, and a large number of other countries, worldwide.

Postgraduates make a particular commitment to their subject and, accordingly, they make important contributions to a rich research culture, both within their 'home' departments and in the generic research training programmes offered across the College, with the assistance of the Student Support and Development Service. Postgraduates also benefit from the activities organised by the Graduate School, for instance, an annual Graduate Fair and Doctoral Inaugural Lectures.

All of the departments and centres in the College of Arts, Humanities and Law enthusiastically welcome applicants for PhD and Masters study whether campus-based or by Distance Learning in selected departments.

Each year, there are a number of part- and full-scholarships, for both PhD and Masters applicants, as well as Graduate Teaching Assistantships, which combine PhD study and structured teaching. Funding is provided by the University of Leicester or by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, through its Block Grant Partnership or Collaborative Doctoral Award schemes.
