Distance Learning
The University of Leicester is one of the very few UK universities with a depth of experience in delivering high-quality distance-learning to students who might be the other side of the world or just down the road, but have work or other commitments that make attendance on campus difficult or inconvenient.
Some courses are fully on-line, while others are a combination of short visits to Leicester and on-line or study through paper-based study materials.
In a University at the leading edge of e-learning there is plenty of overlap between students literally learning at a distance and students taking on-campus courses that make imaginative use of the pedagogical advantages of e-learning. Many academics in the College work with the Beyond Distance Research Alliance, which brings together teachers and researchers, interested in the field of innovation in teaching and learning, from any discipline or level of education.
In the College of Arts, Humanities and Law, the departments with extensive Distance Learning programmes are: Archaeology and Ancient History, Law and Museum Studies. Other departments are developing distance-learning programmes, and it is always worth enquiring of a department if this option is of interest to you.
The degree awarded is exactly the same as a degree gained by on-campus study.
The following College programmes are available for study by Distance Learning:
- MA in Archaeology and Heritage (Distance Learning)
- MA in Art Museum and Gallery Studies (Distance Learning)
- MA in Historical Archaeology (Distance Learning)
- MA in Interpretive Studies (Distance Learning)
- MA in Learning and Visitor Studies in Museums and Galleries (Distance Learning)
- MA in Museum Studies (Distance Learning)
- LLM in European Union Law (Distance Learning)
- LLM in Employment Law (Distance Learning)
