Family Programme Registration

(Vice Chancellor's Letter)

Dear Parents, Relatives and Friends of New Students:

AN INVITATION TO AN AFTERNOON RECEPTION
I am delighted that a member of your family will be joining the University of Leicester this autumn.  You may be pleased to know they are joining one of Britain’s leading universities, which is well known for the quality of its teaching and research and is ranked 12th in The Guardian, 15th in the Times Good University Guide and in the top 2% of universities in the world.

I would like to invite you to the University to join me and my colleagues for tea, coffee and biscuits before the start of term. This will take place on Saturday 1 October or Sunday 2 October in the Charles Wilson Building on the main campus (Please see www.le.ac.uk/maps for maps and direction. Parking is available at Freeman’s Common Car Park on Welford Road and disabled parking is available on campus.).

This event will give me the opportunity to welcome you to the University and introduce you to Clare Taylor, our Student Welfare Officer. The welfare of our students is of prime importance. Many families find it reassuring to know that, should a student ever need it, a comprehensive student support service is available. As well as providing an overview to our Welfare Service and the pastoral care of students, whether they live in University accommodation or with their parents, Clare will be able to answer any questions you may have.

We also recognise that many of you will be especially interested in the University’s progress and achievements during your son or daughter’s time here. Steve O’Connor, Director of Development, will introduce you to the Family Programme which enables us to keep you informed about developments at the University. At the welcome reception, there will be a brief introduction to the Programme and an opportunity to ask questions.

I look forward to meeting you in October.

With best wishes,

Yours Sincerely

Robert Burgess

Vice Chancellor
