Welcome to our global community

University is more than just the classes you take. It's the friends, the memories, the achievements… managing to juggle deadlines with sports and societies, and nights out at the 02. It's a community that reaches far beyond your graduation; a lifetime membership to a network of over 150,000 graduates who have carved out the road ahead.

The Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) are here to nurture lifelong relationships among current and future Leicester alumni, an exclusive group which you are now a part of. DARO provides a range of benefits to alumni, and although graduation may seem far away at present there are a growing number of opportunities for current students to get involved.

Build your professional network
As a member of the University of Leicester family, the expertise and advice of a myriad of leading professionals is within your reach. Attend one of our many events throughout the year to start networking with professionals in your chosen career. With graduates spanning over 70 countries, there are certainly plenty of opportunities to start building your future.

Improve your employability – Join the DARO Volunteering Programme for opportunities to assist with marketing campaigns, events, and Social Media. Not only will you gain valuable training and experience, but your time will count towards completing the Leicester Award. Moreover, we’ll be happy to provide a stellar reference for you, as well as profiling our top volunteers on the alumni website! Watch this space for more info.

Earn some cashWe also have opportunities for paid part-time work, for example, becoming a Telephone Fundraising Ambassador and joining our Telephone Campaign Calling team is a fantastic way to develop professional transferable skills and greatly enhance your CV. You will raise vital funds for some of the University’s priority appeals, have a chance to chat with alumni about life after graduation and pick up some great careers advice (possibly an internship or two!). We use Career’s recruitment service “UniTemps” for our hiring, so make sure you sign up to take advantage of our paid work opportunities.

Have your say If you’re passionate about shaping the future, then the Development and Alumni Relations Feedback Panel (DARFP) could be for you. We’re in the process of transforming our services, so we’re looking for bright ideas and honest critique to help lead our direction. This is a great way of separating your CV from the crowd, and requires just a few hours commitment per year.

Do something remarkableThe University is a charity and was founded on philanthropic donations from local families - and we’d love you to get on board to help us in our fundraising efforts!  From helping with bucket collections to running a marathon (or sitting in a bath of beans), you could support everything from student societies to life-saving medical research. Look out for opportunities to join in!

Plan for your futureConsidering future study? As a member of the Alumni Association you’re automatically entitled to a 10% discount on postgraduate degrees at The University of Leicester – including part time, full time, and distance learning.
