Basement Jaxx Benefit Concert
In May 2012 internationally acclaimed dance giants Basement Jaxx headlined an electrifying night of music at Leicester’s O2 Academy to support the University’s Cardiovascular Research Centre appeal. The evening itself raised £2,500 towards the appeal.
Basement Jaxx, comprised of Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton, have been regular chart-toppers for over a decade, with 2002’s ‘Where’s Your Head At?’ being probably the best known of their many singles. They have six studio albums to their name, not to mention two BRIT awards and a Grammy.
Felix himself hails from Leicester and his uncle is Hugh Stevenson, a member of the University’s Development Board and who originally suggested the gig.
