We are delighted to announce that the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award will be presented for only the second time at the Alumni Dinner 2012 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, London on 9th February 2012.
Do you know someone who has made an outstanding contribution in their profession, or their community or to Society at large? Do they deserve recognition for their work? Or have you made an outstanding contribution?
Who can you nominate?
The award will be presented to a University of Leicester graduate, who, in the opinion of the judges has made an outstanding contribution to Society. Graduate nominees can be working in any professional field or sector from Medicine to Engineering, from the business world to the voluntary and not-for-profit sectors. We are seeking graduates who have made a significant contribution, achieved fame and recognition, or have achieved great things but out of the limelight.
First winner of the Award
The inaugural winner of the Award in 2011, Professor Nilesh Samani (Medical Sciences BSc, 1978; Medicine MBChB, 1981; MD, 1984), received the award in recognition of his leadership of a world renowned Cardiovascular Sciences team and being at the forefront of research breakthroughs that have improved prevention, treatment and care for the many thousands of people affected by heart disease.
Professor Samani said: “I am deeply honoured to be the first to receive this Award. I am delighted to have shared the experience with so many of my fellow alumni, who have all helped to make this such a special and momentous evening.”
