UoL blogs

If you know of a blog written by a student, staff member, group or Department at the University of Leicester, please send me the link.

AlunSalt

Alun Salt is a PhD student in the School of Archaeology and Ancient History. "My work seems to concentrate on the cross-over between science and humanities, in particular with work on Archaeoastronomy."

The Attic

"A site for the research students of the Department of Museum Studies: a virtual community which aims to include all students, be they campus-based and full-time, or distance-learning and overseas. Here you will find a lot of serious stuff, like exhibition and research seminar reviews, conference alerts and calls for papers, but there's also some 'fluff'; the things that inspire, distract and keep us going. Afterall, while we may be dead serious academic types, we're human too."

BioethicsBytes

"This site hosts a collection of resources to assist in the teaching of bioethics, with particular emphasis on multimedia materials (film, TV, streamed media) as case studies." Established and maintained by Chris Willmott (see also Journal of the Left-Handed Biochemist).

DougMuses

Doug Dickinson works with PGCE students in the University's School of Education. "For me the ICT is a significant tool which should transparently enhance the work of dedicated teachers and support and inspire children and students to produce their creative best. I teach on the ICT side of science for the Science Teaching Centres across the country."

DrBadgr

Jo Badge is the Web Resources Development Officer for the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Leicester.

Journal of the Left-Handed Biochemist

"Chris Willmott (see also BioethicsBytes) is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry.  His background is in antibiotic mode of action and mechanisms of resistance. His focus currently is on the development of resources for teaching biological science students about ethics, and he serves as a co-convenor of the Higher Education Academy Centre for Bioscience Special Interest Group in this field (which probably ought to be shortened to HEA CfB SIG, but isn’t)."

MOERG (Moseley's Educational Research in Gaming)

"Alex Moseley is an Educational Designer at the University of Leicester. He is a learning and teaching practitioner, and conducts research into innovative skills teaching and support using paradigms from online games and social networks."

New History Lab

A forum in which postgraduate students in the School of Historical Studies can meet to discuss their ideas and research. Occurring regularly during term time, the Lab offers a variety of events supporting both taught-course MAs and research postgraduate students, ranging from mock 'conference papers' to talks from visiting speakers.

Science of the Invisible

Personal blog on IT/web matters by Alan Cann, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biology (see also MicrobiologyBytes).

UoL Library Blog

"This blog aims primarily to be an informal place for all UoL Library staff to share, debate, reflect and comment on matters relevant to their working activities. The long term hope is that this blog will become, over time, a knowledge based resource for staff to refer to, and perhaps form a template for future blog based resources."
