The synthesis will be written as a result of a desk-based review of the literature published on the effectiveness, use and implementation of plagiarism detection by electronic means.  Papers on these topics are dispersed amongst a wide variety of online and paper publications which are not easily accessed through a single search engine or bibliographic database. A professional subject librarian will assist in checking the literature search methodology to ensure that all possible sources have been found for the review. In order for this work to have a greater impact on the sector, a publically accessible electronic searchable reference list will be created using citeulike (http://www.citeulike.org). This will enable sharing of the collated references sourced in the most effective way. Where possible DOI (Digital Object Identifier http://www.doi.org/) hyperlinks will be used to link directly to the papers. The project will therefore create a single searchable location for future researchers to utilize and expand.
